At the January 11, 2024 BPAC Infrastructure Committee meeting, the City of Oakland’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program staff provided an overview and analysis on the implementation of the 2019 Citywide Bicycle Plan to date, including an evaluation of Bike Plan proposals that were implemented and not implemented as part of projects constructed since 2019.

The Crucible is hosting their inaugural West Oakland Bike Summit on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 10am-4pm at at the lot right next to the Crucible at 1300 7th Street.
The West Oakland Bike Summit is an opportunity for bike lovers of all ages to come together, connect with the community, and learn more about local bike resources. Enjoy free bike repairs, panel discussions, local vendors, a group ride, food, drinks, and so much more.
In December 2023, Councilmember Carroll Fife introduced legislation to establish a 3-year pilot program that allows schools, businesses, and community centers that serve vulnerable populations to apply for temporary encroachment permits to install removable traffic safety treatments and create traffic calming zones in the city’s streets.
In order to develop this pilot so it truly serves Oaklanders, there will be two public community meetings to gather information from residents and community based organizations to assess their interest and ability to participate in the pilot program.
East Oakland: Saturday, 2/24/24, 10am-12noon at the 81st Ave Library.
West Oakland: Saturday, 3/2/24, 10am-12noon at the St. Paul’s Episcopal School Library.
