Remote participation including public comment via teleconferencing is not available at this time. Hybrid meetings may commence once the City of Oakland has established meeting procedures and allocated resources for simultaneously supporting in-person and remote participation. All Commission meetings will include procedures to comply with the open meeting requirements of the City’s Sunshine Ordinance and the State’s Brown Act.

Comments on a scheduled agenda item will be heard with that item. The BPAC’s Open Forum Liasons track Open Forum issues raised by the public. The Liasons review the public comments on a periodic basis to identify policy issues for discussion by the Commission. | 6:25 | 4 | Recent Bicyclist- and Pedestrian-Related Crashes (10 minutes) Commissioner Schader will lead the commission in a discussion of recent fatal and other high-profile traffic crashes in Oakland involving bicyclists and pedestrians. · On Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at approximately 7:23 PM, a 47-year-old Hispanic male pedestrian was killed by a driver in a collision at the 7600 block of International Boulevard on the westbound side of the street 48 feet east of 76th Avenue. · On Monday, January 1st, 2024 at approximately 12:44 AM, a 23-year-old Black female pedestrian was killed on the sidewalk by a driver “doing donuts” in a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of International Boulevard and 42nd Avenue. · On Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at approximately 12:56 PM, a 59-year-old Black female pedestrian crossing the street was killed by a driver in a hit-and-run collision on San Pablo Avenue 900 feet north of 23rd Street. |

The Traffic Fatality Map has been updated with the latest fatality data through November 2023. In addition, the web map also features traffic fatality data for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 on victim counts by year and by mode (Pedestrian, Bicyclist, Driver, Passenger, Motorcyclist, Other motorized User, Other non-motorized User). This integrated traffic fatality data comes from the compilation of instances by OPD, OakDOT’s Rapid Response Program, and Bicycle & Pedestrian Program.
