At the January 18, 2024 BPAC meeting, Yvonne Chan, Transportation Planner II with OakDOT’s Capital Finance team, provided an overview of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) process for the 2023-2025 fiscal year term and upcoming milestones.

2022 Community Engagement
- Partnered with Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO) to conduct community engagement with a focus on communities underrepresented in previous CIP cycles.
- Various forms of engagement included:
- 1-on-1 meetings with community organization and coalition leaders
- World-café style workshops
- Listening sessions at community events
- SMS text outreach focused on Spanish and Mam speakers
- Tabling at schools
- Social media
- Common themes we heard included:
- Traffic safety
- Personal safety/violence prevention (especially at parks)
- Need for maintenance and programming (especially for youth)
- Interest in long-term, ongoing CIP engagement
