At the November 16, 2023 BPAC meeting, AC Transit’s Maria Henderson, External Affairs Representative, and Owen Goetze, Transportation Planner will present AC Transit Realign, a comprehensive review of AC Transit’s bus network to respond to shifts in riders’ travel patterns. Each draft service scenario has been shaped by community input concerning crucial travel needs, and each scenario demonstrates how it will advance community mobility. AC Transit is seeking comments on the preliminary service scenarios between November 1 and December 13, 2023, to help inform the development of a single preferred service plan for implementation in August 2024.

At the October 19, 2023 BPAC meeting, Craig Raphael, Senior Transportation Planner with OakDOT’s Capital Finance team, provided an overview of and requested a BPAC letter of support for an upcoming application to the Safe Routes to BART construction grant program for a cycle track at Lakeside Drive between International Boulevard and 19th Street.

At the October 19, 2023 BPAC meeting, Becky Frank and Hunter Oatman-Stanford, transportation planners from the Office of Regional and Community Planning at Caltrans District 4, introduced Caltrans’ Vision 980 Study.
The study aims to improve connections between West Oakland and Downtown Oakland and will identify a new concept and vision for transportation and land use along the entire I-980 corridor.
At the September 21, 2023 BPAC meeting, Colin Piethe and Cathy DeLuca, transportation planners from OakDOT’s Planning & Project Development team, provided an introduction to a paving project on Seminary Avenue between Sunnymere Boulevard and Foothill Boulevard. Staff is seeking commissioners’ feedback on initial conceptual designs, including a potential new bikeway between Sunnymere Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard.
At the September 21, 2023 BPAC meeting, Charlie Ream and Cathy DeLuca, transportation planners from OakDOT’s Planning & Project Development team, will provide an introduction to a paving project on Telegraph Ave between 52nd Street and Woolsey Street. Staff recently kicked off the project and is seeking commissioners’ feedback on initial conceptual designs.

At the September 7, 2023 BPAC Infrastructure Committee meeting, OakDOT’s Jason Patton, Jason Cook, and David Pené led a review and discussion of draft plans and candidate locations for spot bicyclist and pedestrian improvements anticipated for delivery through the City’s on-call construction contracts later this year.
