At the January 11, 2024 BPAC Infrastructure Committee meeting, the City of Oakland’s DOT (OakDOT) Major Projects Division will provide an update and accept input on the 7th Street Connection Project from Mandela Parkway to MLK Jr Way in West Oakland. The project aims to reconnect West Oakland and Downtown, create safer and more comfortable ways to travel for those walking, rolling, and taking the bus, improve air quality, and reflect the rich history of 7th Street.

At the January 11, 2024 BPAC Infrastructure Committee meeting, Port of Oakland Senior Maritime Projects Administrator Pia Franzese will provide a presentation on how the construction of the 7th Street Grade Separation East project (7SGSE) (Bay Street to Maritime Street) will affect access to the Bay Trail during construction, and an update on other improvements proposed along 7th Street.

At the December 14, 2023 BPAC meeting, Joe Wang, OakDOT Safe Streets Division Manager, Brian Sukkar, OakDOT Transportation Engineer, and Joe DeVries, Deputy City Administrator provided an overview of non-traditional engineering approaches OakDOT has begun piloting in support of City violence prevention efforts led by the Oakland Police Department and the Department of Violence Prevention.

7th Street Grade Separation East (7SGSE) Port of Oakland Project — Bike/Walk Access Construction Mitigation
The Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) is working in collaboration with the City of Oakland on the development of a program of San Pablo Avenue corridor projects. At the November 2, 2023 BPAC Infrastructure Committee meeting, Matt Bomberg, Senior Transportation Engineer and Colin Dentel-Post, Principal Transportation Planner presented the San Pablo Avenue Parallel Bike Improvements Project which includes neighborhood bikeway treatments along local streets parallel to San Pablo Avenue in North Oakland, Berkeley, and Albany.

ACTC is working in collaboration with the City of Oakland on the development of the East Bay Greenway Multimodal Project, which is a proposed active transportation facility along the BART corridor between Lake Merritt and South Hayward.
